From 14 to 15 October 2025, the partner organisations of the Interreg project Back2Woods met in Heringsdorf to mark the official launch of the project. Institutions from Germany, Denmark, Lithuania, Poland and Sweden are involved.
The meeting focused on nature-based health services and how forests can be used more effectively for recreation, education and prevention in the future. Expert input from the Joint Secretariat and the European Project Centre (EPC) as lead partner created a common framework for cooperation.
In practice-oriented workshops, the participants developed initial project components and discussed innovative methods. Excursions to the Heilwald Heringsdorf and the Kinderheilwald also provided direct insights into existing nature and health-related offerings.
The project launch highlighted the common goal of sustainably developing the potential of forest and nature experiences for health promotion and prevention in the Baltic Sea region.
