In a gesture that reflects Wismar's open-minded and international spirit, Mayor Thomas Beyer welcomed new students on the International Management Master's programme to the historic Town Hall on 11 November 2025.

This was the second time the reception had been held, and it was attended by programme director Prof. Dr Ali Arnaout. After receiving a warm welcome in the City Council Hall, the students were treated to a short presentation by Benjamin Leers, who offered a concise introduction to the history, structure and international significance of the Hanseatic city.

The reception concluded with an open Q&A session, during which the international students shared their initial impressions, experiences, and queries about their new environment.

This event provided an opportunity for exchange and dialogue, reflecting the city’s appreciation of its international guests. We hope that Wismar will become a place of academic and personal growth for our students over the next one-and-a-half to two years.
