PHD Monika Klein and Elizaveta Diatlova from European Project Center at Wismar Hochschule made a notable appearance at the Blue Bamos Arena in Sopot, showcasing the Tetras and DigiTechPort2030 projects. The event from 28th till 29th April brought together experts and enthusiasts from various sectors to engage in dynamic discussions about the future of the sea, with themes centered on resilience, safety, and sustainability.
The university’s presence during the conference sparked vibrant conversations across diverse topics — including marine education, sustainable food systems, ecological innovation, shipping, and entertainment at sea. The forum served as a rich platform for cross-disciplinary dialogue and international collaboration, reinforcing the importance of innovation in shaping maritime futures.
The TETRAS project addresses a challenge that affects all regions of the Baltic Sea Region: how to reconcile economic development with social and environmental goals. Much of the excess water or energy used in industry is lost to the environment. What if we could capture these resources and use them for food production? How can we use water intelligently to balance the needs of industry with the most modern food production systems? The solution is called RAS: Recirculating Aquaculture Systems. TETRAS will demonstrate how RAS can be placed in strategic geographical locations or combined with industrial processes to increase efficiency while producing affordable, healthy food.
The DigiTechPort2030 project wants to support Small and Medium Sized Ports in their green transition and decarbonization. The project aims at providing access to missing knowledge and develops a toolbox and a roadmap of Green Transition.
