His research focuses on the integration of people with a migrant background into the European labour market. In his PhD thesis, Mansoor is investigating the influence of cognitive biases on employers’ perceptions of people with a migrant background, and how these biases affect recruitment decisions, integration in the workplace and perceived productivity.
The project, entitled ‘Behavioural Integration of Immigrants in the EU Labour Market: A Quantitative Analysis of Cognitive Biases and Employer Perception’, combines social-psychological and behavioural-economic approaches and utilises quantitative methods. The doctoral thesis is supervised by Prof. Dr. jur. Andreas Bücker at Wismar University of Applied Sciences (UAS), within the Business School and by Prof. Dr. Philipp Wichard at the University of Rostock.
Mansoor has already obtained several degrees, including a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance and a Master’s degree in Business Administration in Pakistan. Last month, he completed his Master’s degree in International Management at our Wismar University of Applied Sciences His academics were supported, amongst other things, by scholarships from the DAAD, the Hanns Seidel Foundation and the DAFI programme.
Alongside his studies, Mansoor is actively involved in supporting international students. Since December 2024, he has been working as an educational mentor at the German-Syrian Research Society (DSFG), advising students of all nationalities on matters including scholarships, study opportunities and application procedures. Mansoor is an Afghan national, married and the father of one child. He speaks five languages: English, German, Pashto, Dari and Urdu.
