Democratic decision-making put to the test in practice

At the Youth Democracy Festival in Poland, Svetlana Saidensal from Wismar University of Applied Sciences led a workshop on collaborative decision-making.

On 23 and 24 September 2026, she took part in the Youth Democracy Festival in Poland on behalf of Wismar University of Applied Sciences. Together with Prof. Dr Jaroslav Dvorak, she led the third workshop of the Interreg project D-EFFECT in Olsztynek. Pupils and students from Poland and Lithuania represented the diverse interests of a fictional school community and jointly allocated a fictional budget of 100,000 euros. The exercise highlighted the importance of dialogue, seeing things from different perspectives and a willingness to compromise for democratic decision-making processes.
